Moving to a new city isn’t easy. And making new friends (especially as an adult) can be rather challenging. During one of my “woe is me” phone calls, my sister suggested I join a pole studio to not only branch out of my comfort zone, but to meet other women and acquire a healthy hobby.
I thought she’d had one too many glasses of wine and so reminded her that I’m the epitome of a shy, introverted book worm with as much grace as a giraffe wearing roller-skates.
Three years later I am still thanking her
Pole dancing has changed my life in such magnanimous ways. I am much healthier physically, emotionally, and mentally. My confidence and self-worth have grown exponentially which has benefited my life on both professional and personal levels. It’s been fascinating seeing what I thought were my limitations be shattered by perseverance and passion.
"While I’m away from my one sister, I now have dozens of pole sisters......"
But my absolute favorite aspect about pole dancing is the sisterhood. The friendships I’ve formed with these amazing women feels lifelong. The best part about this community is everyone is welcome! I’ve made bonds with women that range in all ages, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. The diversity in these women makes for such an enriching environment. Everyone is always so supportive and positive whether you’re struggling with a new pole combo or you had a rough day at work.
There is never any negativity among us which is so refreshing in today’s world. The bond of female comrade is truly a powerful thing.
I love being a part of this studio. This sisterhood. While I'm away from my one sister, I now have dozen of pole sisters.
